So what’s better than shopping up a storm in Cardiff city centre or piling your trolley high in the supermarket? Well, we’re biased of course with Ogam Igam being based in Penarth, but we believe that you can’t get better than keeping it local and shopping in Penarth itself.
Penarth is such a vibrant town, steeped in history and bursting with a variety of fantastic shops filled to the brim with unique buys that will bring a smile to any face. Every summer, it draws in tourists from all over retaining its title as a popular seaside town with the grand Penarth Pavilion, a quirky summer festival and the more recently established ‘Picnic Penarth’.

Even for those living locally, some people are unaware of the fabulous shops that Penarth has to offer as many are hidden away from the bustling main streets. But with everything in one compact area, you can really shop smart and find pretty much anything you are looking for.

Of course, Penarth is becoming well known as a food lovers’ paradise too! With more and more eateries popping up around the town and at the seafront, you can spend a fair few hours taking in the sights and sounds of this popular Welsh town before indulging in some of the finest food in Wales.
Experience fine dining at James Sommerin’s award winning, Michelin Star restaurant on the seafront, or head into town to experience the gourmet delights of Etc., recently awarded ‘Best Restaurant of the Year’ for South East Wales. Want something a bit lighter? Indulge in a tasty afternoon tea made from fresh local produce at Foxy’s Deli of if you want to keep it simple, head to Plassey Fish Bar for all the usual fare of a traditional seaside town. For a more international feel, go Italian at Tony’s Pizza or Pizza Pronto or if you’d prefer the authentic taste of India, Mo’s on Station Approach, just around the corner from Ogam Igam, offers a great selection of traditional Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine.
